Subject: Anti-slavery material at the Library of the Society of Friends
Apologies for cross posting.
The Library of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) has just
completed cataloguing its collection of 18th and 19th century
anti-slavery literature. 2,386 items have been added to the on-line
catalogue www.quaker.org.uk/cat, including 31 items new to ESTC. In
addition, the Library's extensive runs of anti-slavery periodicals have
been catalogued. Previously, the various paper lists to the anti-slavery
collection were only available in the Library. The cataloguing project
was made possible thanks to funding from the W.A. Cadbury Trust, the
Edith Ellis Trust, the C.B & H.H. Taylor Trust and the Joseph Rowntree
Charitable Trust.
The Library has also produced a sources guide to materials about Quakers
and the abolition movement, which can be downloaded from our website
www.quaker.org.uk/library, where there is also general information about
access to the Library.
