A PhD studentship is available within the School of Psychology, University of Liverpool. The project -
to be supervised by Sonia Tucci - centres on endocannabinoids and their interactions with other
neurochemical systems that are linked to the regulation of appetite and body weight. The studies will
be lab based, involving a range of behavioural, pharmacological and bioanalytical techniques, mostly
using animal models.
Candidates must have at least a 2.i degree. Some background in biopsychology/psychopharmacology
or other laboratory-based discipline would be useful, but isn't essential.
The School has fully equipped labs for studying all aspects of ingestive behaviour, and a substantial
group of researchers who study appetite and body weight control at all levels - from molecular
processes to the impact of societal factors on behaviour. Additionally, through the Liverpool Obesity
Research Network, we have active collaborations with sister departments in the Science, Medicine,
and Veterinary Faculties.
And, of course, Liverpool is a cool and happening place.
If you know anyone who might be interested in applying, or want to apply yourself, contact Dr Sonia
Tucci ([log in to unmask]) or Tim Kirkham ([log in to unmask])
Interviews will take place from late July.
