Denbighshire County Council
Denbighshire Archives Service
Assistant Archivist
Scale 6 (£20,895 – £22,293)
Denbighshire County Archives service looks forward to recruiting an
enthusiastic permanent member of staff to undertake a range of professional
duties at its base in the converted Ruthin Gaol in north Wales. The post
holder will work on the selection and cataloguing of archives in the Record
Office’s custody, and on a rota basis, be responsible for delivering a high
quality service to the public from its research room. He or she will also
be eager to take part in outreach activities, and contribute in other ways
to the development of the service.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate qualification in archives
and records management, a firm grasp of archives service issues and
principles, and ability and confidence in relevant ICT applications. Happy
in a team situation or working independently, an able communicator, the
assistant archivist must be committed to providing a friendly and efficient
service to the authority’s officers and the public and eager to continue
his/her own professional development.
The ability to speak Welsh is not essential for this post but it would be
an advantage as the authority is committed to the language’s equal status
and use. The post would be suitable for a newly qualified archivist eager
to practice their knowledge and skills in an attractive rural but not
remote location.
For an informal discussion please contact Jane Brunning, Archivist on 01824
