The Department of Anthropology at University of California Santa Cruz
invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position
in the anthropology of nature or the environment beginning July 1,
2007. We welcome applicants doing research in these fields through
emphases on multi-species relations or science studies; space and
place; law, society, and the state; local/global politics and
institutions; or historical issues of social justice in relation to
culture and power. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment
to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.
Applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Anthropology or closely
related field, completed by July 1, 2007. The successful candidate
must present strong evidence of research activity and university
teaching experience or demonstrated potential for university
teaching. Applicants should provide a letter of application,
curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation (all letters will
be treated as confidential documents; please direct your references
