SUBJECT: Research in Economic Anthropology Vol. 26 _________________________
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Economics of Health and Wellness:
An Anthropological Perspective
(tentative title)
(Research in Economic Anthropology, Volume 26)
Research in Economic Anthropology, published by Elsevier, is an annual peer-reviewed book series dedicated to the anthropological - including archeological - investigation of economy and society.
Anthropological papers addressing the economics of health, medicine, or wellness are being sought for Volume 26 of REA. Appropriate topics include:
* Community health
* Access to health care/information
* Aging and/or long-term care
* Disease control and prevention
* Treatment of disease
* Culture and health/medicine
* The health care/nutrition industries
* Food and nutrition
* Government policy and health/medicine
* Health and work conditions
* Medical tourism
* Mental/emotional health
Deadline: November 1st, 2006
(Interested authors who will be unable to meet the deadline should at least submit a detailed proposal by late October.)
Any previously unpublished manuscript that is economic, anthropological, and health-oriented may be considered, but papers that 1) utilize original data obtained through empirical ethnographic research methods, and 2) in some way engage the general economic anthropology literature, will be
especially welcome. The editor will seek an overall balance for the volume in geographical and topical focus.
Ideally, papers should be around 8,000 words in length, but they must not exceed 10,000 words (including references). They should also be double-spaced, and all tables, figures, photographs, or other images must be of publishable quality and clear for publication regarding copyright laws. Authors
need to include an abstract of about 100 words.
Notes are to be arranged as endnotes, preceding references. Electronic submissions are preferred. Please use MS Word if possible.
