Can I please ask for some advice concerning research students on
continuation? At Durham, we are considering both the level of support
provided and the fee charged. Our current practice is that students pay a
fee of £70 per annum to 'maintain registration' but in return gain access
to all University facilities and supervisory support which is meant to be
less than that received during supervised study but in some cases is almost
identical (depending on the supervisory team). I'd be interested in hearing
about practice at other institutions, particularly:
1) What fee are students charged for periods of continuation?
2) What University facilities can students access during continuation?
3) What academic support is provided?
Many thanks for your help.
