The John Thackray Medal of the Society for the History of Natural
History is presented annually for work demonstrating significant
achievement in the field of the history and bibliography of natural
history.
The President, Officers and Council of the Society invite nominations
for the 2006 Thackray Medal. Nominations can be for individuals or teams
and should relate to a project completed in 2005. Projects can reflect
any of the Society's interests in the history and bibliography of the
biological and earth sciences, and may relate to monographs, edited
volumes, catalogues, exhibitions or any other project which has
significantly enhanced understanding or appreciation of the history of
natural history.
Nominations can be made using the form provided on the Society's website
at http://www.shnh.org/ABT_awards_TM_nomination.html. Nominations must
be received by the Secretary of the Society by 31 January 2006. All
nominations will be considered by a committee of the Council of the
Society, and the medal will be awarded at the Annual General Meeting of
the Society in Dublin in March 2006.
