Job title: SMR/Historic Environment Records Officer
Salary:  JG7: - 23,265-25,437 pa
Location:   based 50% at Weston-super-Mare and 50% at Bath
Hours:  37 hours per week - 3 yrs fixed term

North Somerset Council is keen to appoint a person to this exciting post part-funded by English Heritage.  You will work to develop and enhance the local Record for the two local authority areas of North Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset.   Employed full time by NSC, you will be based 50% at Weston-super-Mare and 50% at Bath.  You will be working with the conservation teams of the two authorities and you will play an active role in their archaeological services. 

You will have a degree in archaeology or equivalent and a minimum of three years experience in planning-related archaeology, along with at least one year's experience in using GIS systems in archaeology. You will also have the ability to work methodically and complete tasks within set timescales. Access to a vehicle is desirable as some remote site visits will be necessary.

Ideally, you will have a working knowledge of, and proficiency in, the use of MapInfo, Microsoft Access and Exegesis GIS software, and some experience and aptitude for outreach work with organisations and individuals with little formal knowledge of archaeology.

The post is for an initial period of three years.  The project is jointly funded by English Heritage and the local authorities.
