As I understood it a small working group was proposed who would
represent site views in developing a strategy. Alessandra is our
representative and this is why she mailed the list with a summary and
request for input/feedback.
If no opposition is given then there will be a faster move to XML which
is already the main configuration tool used for Pre-Production Service
(gLite) installations. If there is opposition there will be a stronger
attempt to keep YAIM in some form during the transition (i.e. when we
have both LCG2 and gLite components to install in parallel). The group
need to decide what is best in the long-term from a "user" point of view
and from there decide how much integration is to be done. The developers
were clear that they know what is best for them = XML.
Alessandra may also wish to comment here as I did not take part in the
further discussions after the main meeting in Pisa.

The outcome of the EGEE meeting wasn't that clear to me. A few people
were actioned to go away and sort things out but the boundaries within
which they were to work weren't obvious to me. I heard quite a bit of
dissent on the use of XML.
What were the actions? Did anyone commit to integrating all the
non-glite components into this framework? This is presumably an ongoing
task as other tools develop in parallel.
Would Jeremy or Owen like to comment?
