A friend of mine is writing a paper about how media in the USA is writing about disabled soldiers returning from the Iraq war. Factors of relevance are, among others, ideological stand-points concerning disability vs. war, and if war veterans are recieving technical aids and rehabilitation in the extent needed. What we have not been able to find, are previous research concerning war and disabled veterans, every idea is welcome!
By the way, since this is the first time I post anything on this list, I should introduce myself... I am currently writing my PhD at the University of Lund, Sweden, about technical aids, mostly active wheelchairs and, to some extent, also upper-limb prosthetics. The perspective is not so much on the technology itself, but more on the social consequences for the individual, i.e. technology in its context, and implications for the user.
So, please, if anyone has any ideas of where to find resources of previous research concerning war and disabled veterans, please do not hesitate to mail me!
Sincerily,
Oskar Krantz
