John, I know there is an established service based in the community in
Sheffield - clearly nearer the acute orthopaedic base than yourself but
absolute distance isn't always the issue is it? Suggest you contact the head
of therapy services (Pauline Bramley) at Sheffield South West PCT for the
appropriate contacts. Also an established service, I think based in
Bristol, who have reported in the literature - the CSP will have details of
these and others.

Subject: Orthopaedic triage services
Hi,
Our Orthopaedic triage service was set up around 18 months
ago. We are keen to improve links with secondary care
orthopaedic consultants in our area. Our triage service is
currently situated some 8 miles from our main hospital and
there are therefor poor links with the orthopaedic team
Are there any other triage services who are also community
based and could they inform us if they have been able to
improve links with their consultants and how they went about
it.
Many thanks
