This may not help directly with your query but Sarah Currier recently
mentioned that the CD-LOR project she is managing is intending to
create ".....a typology of communities supported by or coalescing
around repositories, which will likely involve some kind of typology of
repositories themselves." Hope Sarah doesn't mind me mentioning this
:-} I know this is not exactly what you're looking for but maybe this
would help with explaining repository functionality in plain English?
