medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Good day, eh?
Consubstantiation, as it is most narrowly defined --
i.e. a mixing of the terrestial and celestial elements
in the Sacrament -- is relatively modern. However,
the idea that the communicant received orally both
terrestial and celestial elements, unmixed, in a
singular sacramental mode was examined and
rejected by William Occam in his DE SACRAMENTO
ALTARIS (sp?).
I hope this sheds at least a bit of light on the
question you ask.
Regards,
Frank
