DPI e-update
September 23, 2005
-----------------------------
Frank Hall Bentick,
This week, we received exciting news from the Union Nationale des Aveugles de Tunisie (National Union of the Blind of Tunisia). Our congratulations go out to Dr. Imed Eddine Chaker, president of our National Assembly in Tunisia, who recently became a member of the "Chambre des Conseillers" (Chamber of Councillors) in the second house of the Tunisian Parliament! This is the first time a person with a disability has held such an important political position in Tunisia.
Thank you to everyone who has been sending in information about their upcoming celebrations of this year's International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3rd, 2005. I am working on hard on building DPI's new IDDP site, and I anticipate it will be up and running by mid-October. If you'd like to be included in our listing of events, please contact me at [log in to unmask]
Thanks also to those who have written to me to volunteer to help us with translation of our online resources. We have received several messages from people willing to volunteer for Spanish translation, but none for French translation. So if you have some spare time you'd like to give to helping out DPI and you are able to translate English-French, please contact me at [log in to unmask] A familiarity with the translation of disability terminology will be helpful.
