At the recent DC 2005 Conference, I was pleased about the high  
profile of metadata about accessibility - a number of papers, 10% of  
conference participants, 4 sessions, and a lot of interest (see  
http://dc2005.uc3m.es/). There will be archives of sessions etc  
online soon.

The DC-Accessibility Working Group presented its efforts to members  
of the Usage Board and it seems we are close to getting a new term  
for DC (adaptation) so that an accessibility application profile can  
be built. There is a report of the sessions and a set of tasks for  
the coming year. (This info will be on the DC Accessibility web page  
asap (http://dublincore.org/groups/access). The current activity  
pages (at http://dublincore.org/accessibilitywiki) make available  
reports of the sessions and the most recent drafts of the documents.

This work, as is shown on the DC website, is not just being done by  
DC but also is in ISO, European standards organisations, and more.

The next major event will be a one-day workshop at the OZeWAI  
conference (see http://www.ozewai.org/2005/) in Melbourne, Australia,  
on December 8, 2005. It will be part of the main conference and  
everyone is welcome to attend that as a whole too.

This open DC Accessibility Working Group meeting should be of  
interest to all concerned about the description of user's individual  
needs and preferences and the characteristics of resources that are  
relevant to them. To attend this workshop, please register on the  
OZeWAI conference page and check the workshop (numbers are limited).  
As the W3C/WAI Education and Outreach WG meeting will also be in  
Melbourne in December, we are hoping to have their participation too!
