Here are the results from pluto, I think it is a 1.8GHz G5 single CPU:
no opt 2m17.804s
-O2 1m37.571s
-O3 1m34.648s
-O3 -faltivec 1m36.128s
-O3 -faltivec -mcpu=powerpc64 0m38.551s
-O3 -faltivec -mcpu=powerpc64 -m64 -
But the system is running a build.
