The documentation on this point is quite vague. We really should only be
considering at this point volatile files at tier2's, but this may
change. Otherwise we end up stuck with old MC production files that were
already copied elsewhere and lie dormant. The srm management is
something we really want to encourage and gsiftp, discouraged.
Anyway, yes Henry it is one of the advertised benefits of dpm. If you
let us know which you would prefer to install or if you want further
advice then I am sure Greig would like to help. We've had a lot of
recent experience with both srms. It is still a bit too early to tell
how reliable dpm is and how good the support cycle is. However, we could
consider installing a few test sites, but you should have a health
warning. In fact you need a health warning before installing dcache too,
but there are more doctors around who know about it.
