Places are still available for an Autumn start on the Masters Programme in
Evidence Based Health Care run by the
Continuing Professional Development Centre, University of Oxford.
This part-time, integrated, postgraduate programme provides education and
training in the principles and practice of evidence-based health care for
professionals working in all aspects of health service.
The programme in its entirety is taught over a three year period leading to
the award of the MSc. Students may alternatively elect to study for the
Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma which take one and two years
respectively.
The first year of the course leading to the Certificate aims to enable
students:
• to understand the principles of evidence-based practice in
healthcare settings
• to identify, critically appraise and incorporate the results of
medical and social scientific research in the day to day decision making of
clinical, scientific and administrative practice
• to teach others how to find, critically appraise and implement
evidence-based research
• to plan how to use research findings to improve health care
The Programme seeks to accommodate the busy and demanding work schedules of
health care professionals and, therefore, is provided on a part-time
basis. The Programme also offers flexibility in allowing candidates to
choose empirical topics for study which are relevant to their professional
needs and interests
