Hi Paul,
We use a combination of yum (to load updated rpms), yumit to advise us
on the patch status, and copy of an ssh key in
/root/.ssh/authorized_keys.
So from my normal login node I have a script called ont2nodes :
#!/bin/csh -f
echo onall command called with variables $*
foreach hst (`cat /usr/local/bin/t2nodes`)
echo Command now going to run on $hst
ssh root@$hst $*
end
I can then spot that systems need patching with yumit, check what is
required (ie which oatches are missing, again with yumit) and the type
ont2nodes yum -y update
I'm sure there are many other solutions to this problem but this works
for me.
Cheers Pete

I was looking for advice on what system other sites use to
distribute updates to the machines at their site.
I am not very happy with the operation of the system based on
ghosting a machine which has been implemented at Brunel and was
interested in finding a better solution.
