I am currently researching early nineteenth century colliery
developments in Cheshire and have come to the following line in a report
written by John Buddle.
'There were 3 So. Levels originally which have worked all the coal from the rob
of the Lower Smith Field, and at Warren’s Meadow Pit.'
Please can someone explain what is meant by working coal from the
rob?
Cheers,
