Information Access Officer

London Borough of Camden are looking for an Information Access Officer to
ensure they are complying with their obligations under current information
access legislation such as Data Protection Act 1998 and Freedom of
Information Act 2000.
You will work closely with the other departmental representatives to design
and manage all procedures and administration required for responding to
requests for information. This will include developing existing logging and
tracking systems and written procedures for answering requests and
monitoring the success of such procedures.
You will also be responsible for designing training schedules for staff on
Data Protection and Freedom of Information, providing advice and guidance
to all staff on the Act, and reporting statistical information to senior
management.
London Borough of Camden is committed to information provision and
accessibility and you will play a leading role in the development of the
council’s Publication Scheme under the Act and information leaflets for
public.
A team player with excellent communication and presentational skills you
will also need to have, or be able to achieve quickly, a detailed
understanding of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts and
other information access legislation.
We are looking for someone with an information management qualification
with at least 2 years experience of Records Management, as you will work
closely with the Corporate Records Manager to devise and implement records
management strategy and policy. Knowledge of Local Government procedures
would also be an advantage but not essential.
