We are looking to recruit a temporary Archives Assistant during the
busy summer months here at the School of Oriental and African
Studies. This is an opportunity to work full-time (35 hours a week)
for a two month period in the Special Collections Reading Room in
one of the UK's leading academic institutions. It would ideally suit
someone seeking work experience prior to applying for a place on
one of the archive courses.
Duties will include searchroom supervision, answering enquiries,
collecting documents for readers and general administration work.
Our collections include missionary organisations, business
archives and records relating to individuals living and working in
Asia and Africa. Our researchers are primarily from academic
backgrounds, but also include family historians and missiologists.
A significant proportion of our visitors during the summer months
are from overseas.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with the public, has
good communication skills and works well as part of a team. For
further information about terms and conditions, please contact
Susannah Rayner, Peter Garrod or Lance Martin on 020 7898
4180 or e-mail [log in to unmask]
Please accept our apologies if you receive this email more than
once.
