Images of Yorkshire Coal, Peter Williams, HB, 192pp,
In 1991 as a predicted dramatic closure of the Coal Mining Industry the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME) embarked on an extensive programme recording Colliery details and concentrated on the then 50 pits that were left . Some 2,700 photos were taken on surface, 2000 Arial photos . In addition older material was donated and all this held in the National Monuments records in Swindon.
This book is a personal choice of the author from these records and provides a high quality set of photographs produced in a superb format. Each photo an explanation and more importantly a grid reference.
This is an outstanding record and is well worth the money
