Subject: for mapping cyberspace
Martin, I can't figure out how to send to the Mapping Cyberspace list from
Unix Pine (ASCII). So please (a) forward for me and (b) post posting info
(to the list or to me)
All: I'm puzzled by Ben Spigel notion of the borderless internet. I do
know that people I know in China complain about messages not getting thru,
and that CitizensLab at U of Toronto (Ron Deibert and cohorts) routinely
tests border-patroled countries to see how many things don't get thru.
(Hmn, Martin, mapping that might be interesting -- kinda reverse internet
map -- what doesn't get thru.)
Am I missing something in my usual combo of political cynicism, idealism
and techno ignorance. Can FTP transcend servers, often patroled by
governments.
Barry
