Thanks Marjorie for introducing yourself and welcome to the Digital
Classicist! Gabriel Boddard has kicked off the conversation by proposing a
charter. I am looking forward to all our contributions.
Best
Juan

Subject: Please allow me to introduce myself...
Dear colleagues,
As a first contribution to this list, please let me introduce myself in a
few
words.
My name is Marjorie Burghart, and I work at University Lyon II
(France). I work
as a computer scientist, dealing mainly with databases, XML, and library
management software, in a structure focusing on the mediterranean worlds
(mainly Ancient worlds, but also with a contemporary concern).
Despite this stimulating environment, I am not myself a "Classicist" : my
postgraduate degree was in the field of medieval studies (and also my
running
PhD).
I'd like to thank Gabriel and all the team for launching this project,
and hope
it will be a pleasant mean to strengthen the links between all "digital
scholars" over the world.
With my best regards,
Marjorie
