Principal Lecturer/Reader in Geography
Qualifications required for post: PhD in Geography or cognate discipline
Experience required for post: The ideal candidate will have teaching and
research specialisms in political geography, ideally with a proven record
of interest in
International Relations and Globalisation.
Overall purpose of post: To undertake undergraduate and postgraduate
teaching. To develop Master’s teaching in Globalisation, risk and
security. To undertake high quality research and attract research
funding.
Salary: £34,227 - £43,037
Main duties:
1.To exercise a leadership role in developing and promoting Master’s level
courses in the area of Globalisation, Risk and Security, and to liaise
with staff in the Department of Politics and International Relations.
2.To take on a leadership role in research in the department.
3.To teach undergraduate and postgraduate students using appropriate
instructional methods and to set, mark and assess students’ work.
4.To supervise students’ engaged in higher degree work by research.
5.To undertake research in Political Geography/International Relations,
leading to international quality publications, and seeking funded research
opportunities.
6.To undertake curriculum development work including planning, development
and evaluation of courses and to supervise course provision.
