The basic problems might be:
security vulnerabilities;
firewall ports
about the introduction of a requirement for a new service, and I will
let better qualified people debate how much of a problem rfio represents
in this respect...
My real objection is that this seems an example of middleware creep,
which is A Bad Thing and should be resisted whenever possible! Every
new service is an additional factor of complexity and dependancy that
can lead to badly configured sites, failing services and complex
security vulnerabilities occuring. Back in EDG 1.2, the minimal
software that was actually required on the WN was a 3 line shell script
(to fake globus-url-copy through an ssh tunnel to the CE). Now look at
what we have!
