2) Call for Articles for a Special Issue of 'Gender and
Development' on Advocacy / Please contact [log in to unmask] with your idea
before: 9 May 2005 / Please send an initial email enabling us to make
contact and discuss your ideas. (Articles will be finalised for a deadline
of 22 July 2005)

'Gender and Development' is an activist-oriented journal, with a
primary aim of supporting transformatory gender mainstreaming in
development organisations.

It offers a unique space for development workers and feminist activists to:
1. share experience
2. learn about the key issues facing women, men and children on a particular theme
3. gain access to new concepts from theory which are important for programme and
policy development.

The journal is read by development policy makers, researchers, feminist activists
and students of gender and development and related subjects in institutions in
over 90 countries. We aim to use clear
jargon-free English to ensure the widest possible readership.
The Editor is used to supporting first-time writers and non-native English
speakers who have valuable experience they wish to share.

IDEAS FOR THE ISSUE - we welcome any ideas for articles. Themes
which could be addressed include: Where are the key international
advocacy challenges and opportunities for women's rights in the coming
years? What should be the role of development organisations in
advancing women's rights agendas? Where do the tensions lie? Coalitions and
alliance-building between feminist activists and development
actors - what has been the experience, and what are the learning points? How
have women at different levels of society and in different identity
groups become involved in advocacy activities, and what are the
challenges for development organisations in supporting them in this work?
