So are you saying that GAIA calls fortran slalib directly? If so, then,
like Figaro, GAIA should also include `sla_link` explicitly in its
linking, rather than making assumptions about what ast_link does or
doesn't do.

There should be no clashing symbols if you are using fortran slalib. If
your application drags in the full C version directly, then you will need
to use `ast_link -csla`.
