medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
"Marcian (d. c. 488) Marcian lived in Bourges, but fled when the
Visigoths occupied the place. He became a monk at Auxerre. M. was
put in charge of the community's livestock, and was famous for his
rapport with both wild and domesticated animals. The monastery was
later named after him."
Dear Phyllis,
Which monastery? I thought the only one there was Saint-Germain. Or did it
undergo a name change?
Thanks,
MG
