Friends,
May I request that you edit replies to capture the information
to which you reply -- and eliminate the rest?
The original posts and new responses contain important ideas
on vital topics.
Careful editing of the prior material embedded in the reply
will make it easier to follow and take part in the emerging
conversation.
Some of the posts in the past few days have been immensely
long, and many contain in them the embedded full trail of
all prior posts and responses in the thread. This makes problems
for digest format subscribers, it clutters the archive, and it
reduces the superb JISCMAIL search function to a redundancy
engine as it locates second, third, fourth, and fifth copies of the
same text passages and keywords. My current digest is only
8 posts. It runs 2,613 lines with 20,000 words! Most are repeats
and threepeats, along with quads and quints.
If anyone needs to read the thread to day, all prior posts are
accessible on the Acorn list archive at
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/acorn.html
Thanks,
Ken
