Bodington Buzz: Introduction to the Bodington VLE system

 FREE SEMINAR - Wednesday 6 April 2005

Time: 10.30 - 3.30 (Registration and coffee from 10.00)

Venue: Edward Boyle Conference Room

Leeds University Library

University of Leeds

Woodhouse Lane

Leeds LS2 9JT

With the growing interest in open source solutions for Virtual Learning

Environments, we would like to invite you to a free one-day seminar

demonstrating the Bodington Open Source VLE system.

Bodington was developed at the University of Leeds and is now being used

by the University of Oxford, the University of the Highlands and Islands

(UHI), and various FE colleges. It is an open source system which is

entirely free to use and which is experiencing a considerable amount of

development work.

The day will be hosted by the the Bodington.org team, part of the

Learning Development Unit at Leeds University, who are responsible for

the co-ordination of the development of the Bodington software in

collaboration with partner institutions. The Presentations and

demonstrations are aimed at decision makers and potential users of the

system who may be considering adopting or switching to an open source

VLE to contribute to their teaching and learner support.

Presentations will include:

    * Brief introduction to Bodington

    * Choosing Bodington and rolling it out

    * Future directions of Bodington

    * The support community for Bodington

    * Bodington development projects underway

    * ePortfolios and log books in Bodington

    * Shibboleth integration

    * Examples of using Bodington in teaching

During the day you will see Bodington demonstrated and have a chance to

ask questions about deploying it and using it in teaching. The day will

be divided into two parts. The morning will consist of short

presentations to all delegates introducing Bodington and giving an

overview of the experience of using Bodington in the different

institutions. There will also be presentations of some of the current

development projects.

After lunch there will be two parallel sessions and you are asked to

choose the session you would like to attend. Briefly, the themes of the

two sessions will be (1) 'Technical and Service Delivery aspects' and

(2) 'Use of the Bodington system in Teaching'.

 To register

The day is free to attend and lunch will be provided, but you need to

reserve a place. To book a place please visit:
