There would appear to be more to it than just ignoring <link> on the
libraries, as Autobuild is still not generating the correct build list.
There must be more cyclic dependencies.

Norman,
these two fail because "alink" was built before MERS, so the
"err_link_adam" expansion is missing from the libraries that are used by
alink (so DTASK_LINK_ADAM is incorrect). The obvious work around is to
declare MERS a build dependency of DTASK, but since this is an area of
particular interest to you (and much subtlety), I'll leave it for you to
contemplate.
