Hi Brian,
tried your update out and the CCDPACK exercise scripts are progressing
much further, but I have come across another problem with KAPPA PICDEF:

! should be in the range 1 to 65535 (possible programming error).
! DAT_PUT: Error writing value(s) to an HDS primitive.

! array 1.0 prefix="" xpic=3 ypic=1 accept
the problem is clearly the prefix=\"\" parameter.
