The catholic-forum website comments: 'Frances certainly never drove, but
legend says that when she went abroad at night, her guardian angel went
before her lighting the road with a headlight-like lantern, keeping her safe
in her travels.'
The site doesn't give a source for this legend, nor can I offer one.
However, I do recall reading her life story in comic book form in the 1950's
with drawings of her 'seeing' her guardian (arch)angel and the angel holding
a lantern.
