Dear all,
I'm a Portuguese science illustrator and recently returned to Europe after
studying science illustration in the united states and interning in museums
in Australia and in the US.
I am especially interested in entomological illustration and at the moment
I'm researching for a presentation on combining science illustration and
calligraphy for the science illustrator's conference in the Summer.
The Society for the History of Natural History mailing list was highly
recommended to me and I just joined, hoping to get some suggestions from the
members.
I'll be spending the first two weeks of April in London. I was hoping you
could recommend bibliography, authors and places to research in the London
area. I'm interested in reading and finding images of insects and also of
all kinds of science illustration (old and contemporary) which might be
combined with calligraphy.
I'm in the process of asking permission to visit the manuscript collection
of the British Library and planning to go to the natural history museum and
look at its art collection. I would much appreciate if my search could be
narrowed down to some pieces and authors, according to your suggestions.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Regards,
Diana
