We have completed contractual arrangements for a three volume Encyclopedia
of Urban Studies, to be published by SAGE. This is a substantial project;
the three volumes are projected to have some 750 entires, 900,000 words,
with expected publication in 2007.
One of the first tasks for the editorial staff is to specify the entries,
and I thought I would ask list members to forward responses to the
following questions (off list, perhaps). The editors will compile them
and report back to the list. They will be doing this on several other
lists as well, and we think it should be interesting to compare results
across disciplines (which is one of the exciting aspects in thinking about
the publication):
What are the five most important studies in urban geography?
What are the five most important recent studies (within last 5-10 years)
in urban urban geography?
If you were looking at the completed Encyclopedia of Urban Studies, what
would be the first five topics or entries that you would look up?
Thanks in advance for any notes or comments that might be sent along!
