Dear Sidney-Spenser list members,
The Spenser Roundtable is an annual session at the Sixteenth Century Studies
Conference. Each year, it brings together four panelists to present brief (10
minute) papers on the topic at hand and also to discuss with other panelists
and with audience members both the individual presentations and wider
questions related to the year's subject. Recent participants have included
Anne Prescott, Carol Kaske, Susannah Brietz-Monta, Roger Kuin, Rob Stillman,
and David Wilson-Okamura.
This year, the Sixteenth Century Studies Conference will take place in
Atlanta, Georgia, on 20-23 October 2005. The topic of this year's Spenser
Roundtable is "Spenser and Italy." We are defining the topic broadly to
include papers on the relation between Spenser's work and any aspect of
ancient, medieval, or Renaissance Italian literature, art, culture, literary
theory, politics, religion, or the like.
Please send brief abstracts by March 5, 2005, to the panel organizer, Scott
