Kevin Brownlows restoration of the silent film Napoleon - forgotten the
director- has a scene where the dramatic destruction of the state
records is symbolic of the fall of the old regime (I think!)

I think it was Attack of the Clones where Obi Wan takes Skywalker to try
to find records of alien nations which have already been making clones.
Yes the lady archivist has sleek silver hair swept up into a bun and
glasses on the end of her nose and is very wise and serene, which of
course we all are.
This is fun! Thanks!

There could be more archival than RM:
I'm pretty sure there was an "archive" scene in one of the recent Star
Wars films - if I recall correctly all the files were glowing electronic
thingys on shelves going miles high up into the ceiling. I seem to
remember there was some minor controversy about it being based on a
famous Library in Ireland or Northern Ireland (sorry my memory is vague
on this one!).
Isn't there also a scene in the first Lord of The Rings where Gandalf
goes to search some old documents, where he sits in a gloomy, dank room
(basement probably - tsk!), surrounded by piles of dust and thousands of
lit candles? <shudder>
