which I am involved in organising at the University of Sussex, Brighton.
The event is running in collaboration with the universities of Nijmegen
(Netherlands), Orebro (Sweden), the Trust for the Study of Adolescence,
(Brighton) and the National Family and Parenting Institute (London).

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PARENTING
"What can parents do?"
MARCH 21ST AND 22ND 2005, UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX
This event is funded by the STINT Foundation, based in Sweden. Speakers
will be internationally recognised experts in the field, and this event
will be a unique opportunity for those interested in parenting to
participate in a most unusual conference. The focus will be on cutting-
edge research and its relevance for practice and policy.
The conference is organised by the University of Orebro, Sweden, the
University of Njimegen, the Netherlands, and the Trust for the Study of
Adolescence, Brighton, UK. It will run in collaboration with the
National Family and Parenting Institute, London, UK.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS INCLUDE:
Professor Tom Dishion, University of Oregon Parenting
adolescents in a bi-directional world: Lessons from analyses of
development and change
Dr Judi Smetana, University of Rochester Disclosure, non-
disclosure and secrecy in adolescent-parent relationships .
Dr Nina Mounts, University of Northern Illinois Adolescents
peer relationships: where do parents fit in?
Dr Isabela Granic, Hospital for Sick Children,
Toronto Studying typical and distressed families using dynamic
systems approaches .
Professor Hakan Stattin and Professor Margaret Kerr, University
of Orebro, Sweden Reciprocal relationships between parents and
adolescents .
Dr Marion Forgatch, Oregon Social Learning Centre Families are
systems: Simultaneous multilevel changes
In addition to these keynote presentations the conference will be
attended by a number of internationally recognised scholars, who will
act as Discussants.
COST: £135 for two days (£55 for PhD students), to include lunch and
refreshments, but not accommodation. Delegates will need to arrange
