It took a bit of finding but the following should be a good start. You could
try contacting Tim Mighal and Simon Timberlake who have been carrying out a
recent research project based at Coventry University. One of the things that
they are looking for is evidence of woodland management in relation to early
mining and smelting. They should be able to provide further relevant
refrerences.
