Masters Opportunities at the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences
(IGES), University of Wales-Aberystwyth (UWA)
IGES has a wide range of Masters degree schemes available. Our Master of
Arts degree schemes are the:
MA in Local and Regional Economic Development (Prof. Martin
Jones - [log in to unmask])
MA in Practising Human Geography (Dr. Deborah Dixon
- [log in to unmask]))
MA in Space, Place and Politics (Dr. Rhys Jones - [log in to unmask]))
MA in Space, Time, Culture (Prof. Tim Cresswell - [log in to unmask]))
The MA schemes in Local and Regional Economic Development, Space, Place and
Politcs and Practising Human Geography are all recognised by the Economic
and Social Research Council (ESRC); students wishing to apply for ESRC
funding can, therefore, choose which of these is most relevant to their
research interests.
All of the above are one year, taught Masters. For more information on
particular modules and modes of assessment please contact the relevant
degree scheme coordinator.
A limited number of Masters bursaries are available on a competitive basis.
These are awarded by IGES with regard to the quality of the application, as
evidenced by academic qualifications and references. All applicants with a
2: 1 degree and above (or equivalent) will automatically be considered for
a Bursary Award, in so far as the application is received by UWA by the end
of May. IGES Bursary Awards normally range from £500 to £2000 and are used
to partially offset the one-year tuition costs (£3,010 EU and £7,375
international) involved in Masters study. Further information on funding
avenues can be found at
