Following David's comments, I have tried to do a brief summary of museum
visitor profiles from a range of different documents, including the MLA's
overview of data, MORI reports, various retrospectives, HLF reports, surveys
by regional museums, libraries and archives councils and data from a few of
the hubs. I produced it to give a snapshot of profiles and visitor behaviour
to independent museums in the East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire area
in my role as a Museum Development Officer. I am working from home today
(Friday) but if anyone would like a copy then please send an email to my
work address on Monday ([log in to unmask]).
I am not too sure whether they are in the public domain, but the Heritage
Lottery Fund are now asking applicants, depending on the size of their bid,
to produce audience development plans. These often contain summaries of
visitor research. You would have to check with the HLF offices (Tel. 020
7591 6000 for their Head Office) whether such supporting documents are
available for release.
I hope this is of some use.
