Hi Del
You might want to look at Moodle - an open source VLE - that many individual teachers use with their students. Go to http://moodle.org/ for more information.

The College I work at does not have a VLE. Is there any other way I can be involved. I am interested from a personal and study point of view.

Dear Colleagues,
Would you be interested in having an impact on future NLN Materials? If so, please read on to find out how you can collaborate with us to ensure future NLN materials are interoperable within the VLE systems you use.
Background:
We here at the NLN are working on our fourth round of materials. As with all our previous projects, these are aimed at the FE sector but, in addition, these new materials are being developed to target the specific needs of the Adult and Community Learning sector.
How can you contribute?
We have nine prototype, standards compliant content objects, that we would like as many FE colleges and ACL centres to test as possible (apologies HE, it is a funding issue). All we ask of you is to:
1. Download the objects from our site run them in your VLE.
2. Record the results in a supplied web form. We would like to know how well the objects ingest, run and track.
That's it! We expect it to take up around 30 minutes to test and feedback to us for all nine prototypes and your feedback would be of immense value to the community as a whole.
If you'd like to take part, please click on the following link and follow the instructions given.
http://www.nln.ac.uk/materials/plugfest/ <http://www.nln.ac.uk/materials/plugfest/>
To access the option to view feedback, you will need to login with the following details
Username: plugfest_user

We'll be inviting six representatives to attend an event in Birmingham to be held on 1st March 2005, where you'll have to opportunity to share your thoughts and expertise with our suppliers and ourselves in an informal Plugfest. Please check the relevant box on the feedback form if you are interested in attending. We will be picking six Collage attendees on the basis of the feedback received and the VLE used.
Colleges invited to join us on the day will be able to claim back all expenses and will receive a digital camera as a token of thanks from the NLN Materials team. We in turn will be formulating all feedback received into a report to be fed back to the community.
Thank you for your time.
Best wishes,
NLN Materials Team
