Hi Phil
My understanding of the job of a person described as an "electric bell man"
would be that he maintained the low voltage electric signal system at a
mine, mill (or whatever) in the days when such a system would have been
the only electrics on site... a sort of self-taught electrician ... just as
"cable hangers" in a slightly later era did somewhat more than than hang
the cable... they made up points and installed switches and repaired power
borers. Trust you are all well
Regards
John
