This was sent to me with the request that I publicise the event to members

LSE invites you to the T H Marshall Fellowship symposium beginning at
1830 on the 18th January 2005 entitled 'Citizenship and Social Policy in
21st Century Europe'. The evening will be led by Lord Dahrendorf. The
venue is the Old Theatre in the Old Building in Houghton Street.
In the past couple of years we have been developing a partnership funded
by the Volkswagen Foundation. This has enabled LSE, the
Wissenschaftszentrum, Berlin (WZB), and the Centre for Social Policy
Research (CeS), University of Bremen to embark upon an exchange programme
- the T H Marshall Fellowship Programme.
T H Marshall Fellows from the UK and Germany will visit their host
country to conduct research within the perspective of wider European
social policy and integration. To celebrate our partnership with the
Foundation, WZB and CeS Bremen, we will be holding an annual event
alternating between the UK and Germany, the first being held here at LSE.
During this event we plan to celebrate the work of Professor T H
Marshall, strengthen LSE's relationship with our German partners and
generate wider interest and debate about the programme and its themes.
Lord Dahrenforf will lead a distinguished panel and Howard Davies along
with his WZB counterpart, Professor Jürgen Kocka, will be chairing the
event.
The evening promises to be lively and we hope very much that you are
able to attend. For further details please view
