Exploring the advanced tools within Moodle

An ALT / JISCinfoNET / JISC Development workshop

A workshop to explore the cultural issues involved in connecting
learners and institutions, and how to overcome traditional barriers
to progress with e-learning. Thinktank sessions will discuss
practical solutions to problems. There will be a lively debate on the
theme of joining up learning across organisations.

The cost to attend covers both sessions and includes the use of the
webcams and headsets which are yours to take away. This innovative
workshop will use a flexible, personalised approach to adapt the
curriculum to meet the learners’ needs. Features a face-to-face
learning event and then followed by a web-based video-conference
session using the tools themselves.

2.5 M-Learning: Taking education into the community?

The workshop will take an introductory look at several Mobile
Technologies and explore/demonstrate the use of these technologies.
Presenters will discuss the use of PDAs in registration and in class
work (e.g. teaching Early Years and Childcare NVQs); the use of
Presentation software; how ‘office’ software can be used and how some
mobile devices can connect to the Internet. The day will also give
time to discuss how text messaging is being used within the sector,
and the use Gyro-Suite keyboards and mice.

2.6 The DialogPlus Toolkit for Learning Activity Designers

Southampton

This hands-on workshop will introduce the online toolkit developed,
as part of the JISC/NSF funded DialogPlus project, to guide and
support teachers as they create, modify and share learning activities
and resources. It can be used as a step-by-step guide to developing
learning activities and choosing appropriate tools and resources, a
database of learning activities that can then be adapted and reused
for different purposes and a mechanism for abstracting good practice
and metamodels for e-learning.
