Dear All,
I just wanted to thank everyone for all the help with the suspected monkey/ape humerus that was recovered from a 15th to 17th century pit in the centre of Norwich (Norfolk, England).
Two people have now identified the distal humerus as certainly a Macaque, probably a Barbary Ape. As far as I know, this is the first record in Norwich and Norfolk (apart from Pleistocene remains which were recovered at West Runton, Norfolk). Presumably this animal had been someones rather expensive pet.
Thank you again for all your help,
bets wishes, Julie
