LHCb Grid Physicist/Programmer at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Particle Physics Department at CCLRC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory has a pivotal role in the computing and software infrastructure for the LHCb experiment at CERN, Geneva. If you are a highly motivated individual with a degree in physics, computing or software engineering, CCLRC has a position to provide software support for deployment of a common GRID based computing infrastructure across the eight UK sites that work on LHCb. The post is located at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory but the holder can expect to make regular visits to CERN and to collaborating UK Universities to provide co-ordination and technical leadership. A PhD in a relevant field and some experience of large-scale software projects or GRID middleware would be an advantage.
The post will be filled as soon as possible and is available for 30 months from the start date. Extension beyond that period is anticipated but is subject to funding approval.
Salary is in the range £22,605 to £26,911 per annum, dependent on experience. An excellent index linked pension scheme and generous leave allowance are also offered.
