I have no intention of defending the Mori methodology and I do not know
what they did to arrive at their list. But the newspaper circulation
figures would at one level support their selection - The Mail has well over
double the circulation of the other "mid market" paper, the Express. The
Sun has over half of the "popular" category circulation and nearly double
that of the Mirror. I would also say as a regular reader of all these
papers that the Sun and the Mail seem to use data more frequently and
"enthusiastically" that the other papers in those markets.
Also Julian Wells suggests that the list is of those "invited" when it is I
understand the list of those interviewed. I know several people who were
asked to contribute but chose not to - it is possible that other
groups/papers fell into that category.

Please respond to
"Wells, Julian"
I see that the list of influential people includes ...
>PERCEPTIONS REPORT INTERVIEWEES
> Sir Andrew Green, Migrationwatch UK
> Jenny Hope, The Daily Mail
> Trevor Kavanagh, The Sun
Two observations: (1) Migrationwatch UK appears to be the sole
single-issue pressure group (as opposed to voluntary sector
organisation). (2) The only representatives of popular newspapers
invited appear to be the two above.
Two questions: (1) the *inclusion* of Migrationwatch might be justified
on prudential grounds, but how is the *exclusion* of every other
pressure group justified? (2) Why only tabloids of the particular
political character of the two in question? Why was no one from the
Daily Mirror consulted?
